Automated liver localisation and tissue texture analysis from DEXA images for non-invasive thalassemia diagnosis
The project aims to provide a quick and painless texture analysis procedure for detection of thalassemia (an inherited form of anemia common in the Mediterranean region) through the acquisition of low energy X-ray images via dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans. The study investigates the possibility of measuring the density of liver tissue as an indication of thalassemia disease.
